On the evening of December 15, the 2024 ILCA Asia (Open) Sailing Championship opened at the National Sailing Base in Haikou, attracting 259 top sailors from 18 countries and regions worldwide. Xia Haolun, a Grade 10 student from the International Department of Nanjing Hexi Foreign Languages School, also participated in the event, showcasing outstanding competitive skills. Over the five-day competition, Xia steadily improved from 57th place to 11th and achieved 4th place in the U16 category, bringing honor to both the school and the country. The International Department warmly congratulates Xia Haolun for his excellent performance and is thrilled with his achievements.

Since his enrollment, the International Department has closely monitored Xia Haolun’s academic progress and designed a tailored tutoring plan based on his competition and training schedules to ensure he can balance both academics and sports training. With the growing enthusiasm for Olympic events, more and more parents are beginning to focus on the “sports Ivy League” as a path to higher education. In response, the International Department of Nanjing Hexi Foreign Languages School has launched an experimental international curriculum class, creating a comprehensive academic support system for students with sports and arts specialties, ensuring they can pursue their personal dreams while maintaining academic competitiveness.

The International Department looks forward to seeing Xia Haolun continue to achieve great success on his sailing journey, bringing more honor to both the country and the school.
